Thank you to all the sisters who came to our activity last night, and especially to those who helped organize and put it on!! Debbie Gustafson is planning to take the food to the food bank on Wednesday, so if anyone still wants to donate cans. You can bring it by her house or leave it on her porch by Tuesday night. Just call or text Debbie to let her know 801.971.0965. Also, regarding food expiration, if there are no dents or bulges it should be fine, but do not donate if there are any signs of damage or deterioration. More info can be found HERE.
Here are the quotes on the cards we received with our lovely fruit tarts:
"Be it tart or sweet, Always savor the moment. You'll not taste one just like it again." - Erica Alex
"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment. ... We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. For maximum happiness, peace, and contentment, may we choose a positive attitude." - President Monson The Abundant Life
"The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives." - President Russel M. Nelson Joy and Spiritual Survival
Here is the thought that Debbie Gustafson shared with us in the zoom call:
"After over 10 months of the covid-19 pandemic, wearing masks, being stuck in my apartment all day, and hardly talking to anyone in person, I've started to feel frustrated. We've been praying for so long, but this pandemic is not going away! Isn't God supposed to answer my prayers? The other day I was reading in Daniel 6, where Daniel was thrown into a lion's den for praying, then miraculously God shut the mouths of the lions, and left Daniel unharmed. God definitely could have taken Daniel out right away, but he didn't. God let him spend an entire night trapped in that den. But why would he let Daniel, who had been so faithful, go in there at all? Because if Daniel was delivered right away, he wouldn't have had that experience of being in the lions den and not getting eaten. If so, he wouldn't have fully known of Gods power to deliver. God let this happen so Daniel could test his faith and learn that not only does God deliver us FROM difficulty, he so delivers us IN difficulty. Having God deliver is while in difficulty requires much more prayer and more trust. So sometimes God doesn't always deliver us from our trials, but he delivers us in our trials. Yes, the Covid-19 pandemic has been hard, and it hasn't been taken away yet, but think of all the ways God has delivered us through this pandemic: he's given us peace and hope for the future, we've had the technology to still meet with others, churches and temples have started to open, and we now have a vaccine! So Instead of longing to be delivered, focus on the angels that are there helping you. God will deliver us from this, but until then, let's remember how he's delivering us IN this." - Sister Melodie Wride's facebook
It was wonderful to see so many of your smiling faces in our zoom call! We hope that we can continue to feel the Lord's help as we reach out to support and sustain each other though ministering - by phone calls, texts, through zoom, facebook, and you can comment here on this blog too. Keep seeking and striving to HEAR HIM and reach out, we are all here to love and help one another.
